Before and after Symposium

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque)

I participated in 6th urban sketchers symposium this year. It was a wonderful event  as I expected. Meeting some new and old sketcher friends and sharing thoughts and works.
In the next post I will show you some sketches that I have done during the symposium, but here I wanted to share some sketches of Istanbul on the road to Singapore and then some drawings and painting after the symposium that have been done between 25th and 30th of July. Thank you very much all my friends who helped me in this wonderful journey.

First, some conte sketches of Istanbul. I was thinking about light and shadow more, because of my workshop.

Hi Behzad,
you write "... some conte sketches of Istanbul...". Do you mean charcoal when you say conte?

Hi Juergen

Thank you for question. Those works are by conte pencil. It's different from charcoal. I have used charcoal in the work with title of "One thing, Many thoughts". It usually needs to be fixed on the paper, but conte work mostly doesn't need to be fixed (in sketches).

Thanks for your reply Behzad. Which Conte pencil are you using, the Pierre Noir? I have one but the lead breaks easily when applying a bit of pressure. I'm looking for a pencil that has a rich black and doesn't need a fixative.

Juergen, I have worked by Cretacolor Nero soft with the code of 461 02.
I think it's good for your purpose, but you must check it yourself.

I also have this oil pencil set with some changes:

I think Cretacolor Nero medium with the code of 46103 is ideal for you. You must try it yourself. Regards
